I’m glad you’re here.

I am Louisa Palmer.

Southwest Colorado is where I call home. I didn’t mean to move here exactly. It just sort of happened all at once. After living on the road for years, working job after job, trying to fit my whole existence into a truck, I discovered a small town called Durango. Here is where I decided to make art my whole life. There is nothing I would rather be doing than painting and truthfully nothing has ever felt more right.

I come from a long lineage of artists. My aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, great uncles, and beyond have all made there life works from art and creating. Knowing this, keeps my heart in the work that I do. I know that I am meant to be here. Creating. Curating. Expressing. Although my style and artwork is far different from theirs, I know that having art as my career is in my blood.

My artwork is inspired by many aspects of my life. I love and admire various tattoo styles, women, critters, creepy crawlies that you can find under your porch, chaos in every sense of the word, trash that I find, and the high desert landscape I reside in. My focus on refurbishing broken skate decks came from a generous offer one day. A great love of mine gave me some of his old and broken skate boards. The following day I found a couple more sitting next to a dumpster. Later that week, the local skate shop gave me about ten skate decks destined for the land fill. I knew there was another way to bring these beloved objects into a new life. And so it began…
